It's paylocked so didn't read the article
But it's an opinion article about how we're all going to die written by a sociologist who has a background in computer science?
Color me skeptical
Zeynep Tufekci is might be my favorite writer online right now, her background in digital data accumulation made her the absolute best early pandemic resource out there, one of the first people to be writing consistently about air quality and circulation being the most important factor for covid spread. Relatedly, Twitter and Tear Gas is also an excellent book, she's really strong regarding identifying digital trends and how they impact real world crises.
This article isn't saying 'we're all going to die,' more like there should be steps taken to prevent this variant of H5N1 from becoming deadly to humans. And generally, stronger anti-pandemic measures should be taken in places where we keep large amounts of animals prone to the development of diseases that can be deadly to humans.
