Thanks. I got the bivalent booster in October so hopefully the symptoms will be mild. Fenrir is farting up a storm making sure my sense of smell is still in tact.

No but my history with hypertension put me at an elevated risk.

I know two (an old friend of mine and my wife's aunt), and a third indirectly (a friend's husband who I didn't really know).

1.1M US COVID deaths
332M US population
Average person has a monkeysphere of 150 other people

I'd say nearly 1 out of 2 probably know someone that died of COVID

That there is no scientific justification for the arbitrary decision by @WHO to stop assigning Greek letters with Omicron. This is a political decision, designed to support the fiction that the virus has somehow stopped evolving so much. In fact, the opposite is true.

7/ What do we conclude?

a) The variants are evolving at a massive rate.

b) The variants are evolving in partially immune populations to evade immunity and neutralisation by monoclonal antibodies.

c) Separate to this paper, and as per @VirusesImmunity, affinity for the ACE-2 receptor, expressed on the cell surface and the means by which the virus enters the cell, is massively increased, leading to increased likelihood of severe disease and possibly long covid.

So I was at Mt. Sinai on Friday (don't worry, nothing interesting) and they did a rapid COVID antibody test and a PCR test. The antibody test came back negative within a day, but today they contacted me because my PCR test came back positive.

I've got zero symptoms, but my job said I can telework for the rest of the week.

Here's hoping you stay symptom free!

Hopefully the symptoms don't show up. Stay safe, dude.
