this pandemic will continue to exist until vaccinations are mandated across the board.  I don't give a excrement about anyone's freedom anymore.  Get vaccinated or die.

Theoretically I'm not opposed but I don't really see the point. You can't strap people down and inject them.

I'm much more keen on massively restricting their ability to go anywhere or do anything. Whether they get the jab is up to them, but they aren't allowed into any premises other than their own home until they have. Groceries will need to be delivered and will be dropped outside their homes so they don't have contact with the delivery driver. Fulfilling your basic responsibility to society is the price for being able to be part of it.

Presumably the point isn't to strap people down and give them the vaccine. Presumably once there's a mandatory mandate in place, you now have the legal authority to massively restrict their ability to go anywhere or do anything.

A mandate along the lines of anyone caught outside without a vaccine gets fined up the derriere and or prison or something archaic sounds lovely.

Presumably the point isn't to strap people down and give them the vaccine. Presumably once there's a mandatory mandate in place, you now have the legal authority to massively restrict their ability to go anywhere or do anything.

Problem with that is that it's retrospective - making these dickheads bankrupt after you've saved their lives doesn't ease the burden on the medical system when they turn up at the doors of Emergency needing lifesaving treatment, and unless you're proposing leaving them in the parking lot to die unless they first hand over their credit card and deeds to their house I'm not sure it really helps anything, because part of the vaccine refusal mentality is a belief that a) they won't get covid and b) if they do it won't be serious, so the fear of massive medical bills isn't really any kind of deterrent.

I think that where an individual's choices to not take preventative healthcare actions that are free, widely available and very well publicised and understood impact upon the ability to deliver essential care to others who did take those actions, it is reasonable to take actions that favour the one being disadvantaged.

Rights may be absolute but they can also be withheld. The right to liberty can be overridden by incarceration when someone has committed a suitably serious offense, in order to a) rehabilitate them and b) protect the rest of society from them. I don't see why a right to healthcare couldn't be equally restricted in order to protect the rest of society.

Sure but what's an outright mandate going to do? Unless you're sending someone door to door with assault rifles giving out vaccines and throwing people in prison the second they walk outdoors, odds are any punishments will be retrospective and take months to happen anyway.
