Hochul implemented a mask mandate for any indoor business that doesn't require vaccinations. My coworkers are gonna be pissed. Lol

I've been wearing a mask at work non-stop, even triple-vaxxed.

The concept is that Omicron is more transmissible and less severe. As you said you can’t account for any of your factors listed above.

All unproven theory as far as I’m aware. A few of the threads I linked push back on the severity theory

Yeah, it's all a bit unknown. The optimist in me says that a more transmissible, less severe variant displacing delta could be a good thing, but I don't really know that for sure. Our numbers are increasing exponentially here but our hospitalisations and ICU admissions are remaining completely flat so far, so I'm hopeful.
