What we are doing and what we could/should be doing are not the same thing. You're asserting we need to not share vital research in order to protect private profits and I'm simply rejecting that.

i don't think you're understanding my point.

To get the working vaccine, requires a substantial amount of capital investment from both the private and public sectors....for a variety of resources (whether it's testing, medical personnel, equipment etc etc).

You're looking at it from a "who's gonna make the most money off this" POV. 


Russia doesn't need to steal information if they're willing to work with the rest of the world.  But we all know Putin is a dunce and would rather do something underhanded.

I said there's a formal process that should be followed, so credit is given where due, as to not deter the entire private community from investing

Seems like a lot of parents are caught between:

“I don’t want to send my kid to school because it’s not safe for our family”

and

“I don’t have the ability to take care of my kid full time, also work, and be pretty much fully responsible for their education”

Really tough choice.

This is exactly the choice, and it's why governments are reopening despite the risks.

I'm very fortunate that my wife works nights, so one of us is/has always been available to our kids. Now I'm just waiting to see what my employer decides. We were originally supposed to go back after July 4th, then August 3. Now "the earliest" is after Labor Day, but supposedly everything is in place for a return at that point.

I've already put in vacation for a week and a half after Labor Day. I'm not going to be in that first wave of returnees, and we've already told the school of my only school-age child that he will be remote learning at least until January.

If feel awful for any parent who doesn't have the choices/opportunities my wife and I do.

Anybody heard from guiness? IIRC, he was still working full-time. I hope he's okay. I don't know a lot about him, but he marches in the same congenital heart walk that my family does for my nephew. As bad as things are, they're even worse for families who have at-risk children at home and are forced to work.

We were talking about the hypothetical situation in which Trump announces the availability of Putin's vaccine to American citizens as an election stunt, and you were laughing about the idea that the hated liberals would suddenly become anti-vaxxers. I'm just wondering whether you would also be anti that particular vaccine.
