Jeez, I'm sorry man. I'm sure the trickle-down is going to hurt. Do you work in the ICU?
Stay safe.
Yep I switched to the ICU this recent year, helluva time for a change in scenery.
So far the hosptial has given all doctors a 20% paycut, furloughed most of the assistive staff, and cut the pay of all nurses respiratory therapist etc under the shady guise of no longer making 401k contributions on their behalf (effectively a 200 ish dollar a paycheck paycut).
Staff are getting ready to leave in droves. Which will leave a major medical institution losing a tremendous amount of experience. Which will have the greatest impact on its ED ICU and OR and will take years to recover from.
I'm not tethered to the area in anyway just experiencing life so it doesn't freak me that much (other than the nuisence of having me considering other opportunities) But for people with family or homes in the area that can't move far for work. Or people dependent on the institution for healthcare, they're going to get absolutely fucked royally.
Honestly the job was a ton of fun before all this excrement, but I don't feel like wading through their bullshit for the next two years. So if I get furloughed (which I don't see happening) I'm canceling my lease immediately and ain't heading back there when their volume picks up.
