I feel like this is literally the perfect time for companies to shift their focuses.
This pandemic gives every business in the world every excuse to pivot their companies to be in the best place after this pandemic. Including the oil business.
If it doesn't require a ton of infrastructure and materials sure. As manpower will be plentiful
But with companies across the world all shut down, I feel like getting expensive fancy equipment and supplies is going to be extremely difficult.
Not to mention the price of all kinds of energy is absolutely fucked due to record low demand.
And the biggest problem of all, is where the freak is any company going to get funding for something like this? Companies are literally going bankrupt at record rates, revenue is in a massive free fall and will continue to do so for several months/year(s?). The stock market is collapsed, lenders are going bankrupt.
From a we're sitting around not doing anything perspective yeah its a great time to pivot. From a viability standpoint it's a near impossibility unless you're one of the few companies sitting on a mountain of gold or if a pivot won't cost you excrement.
