But hopefully some kind of deregulation of pushing out new medical drugs and treatments is a consequence of this whole diasaster going forward

I've seen 18 months as the quoted timeframe in a bunch of places, although I think that means developed, tested, approved, mass produced and available to all.

I'm not convinced on antibody testing as being immune to it doesn't prevent you from spreading it, and I don't like the idea of a two tier society where we only allow people with proven resistance to go back to work.

Prevention and eradication is ideal, but if in the much shorter term we can come up with some way of treating people so that they don't end up in hospital when they do contract it then that has to be the optimal route IMO. Whether that be some combination of existing drugs that prove efficacious or whether it's one of these antibody treatments that sound promising and like they could be approved by late summer I don't know, but we need one of these things to happen.

It sounds like 18 months is relatively optimistic, in large part because "Usually, you want to follow their immune response for at least a year," referring to tracking the response for people who get the test vaccine.

Obviously, getting a vaccine is the number one priority for pretty much the world right now, and if we put the world's resources into getting this done, maybe we can get it in 18 months or even sooner. Let's all hope.
