According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich, Red Sox manager Alex Cora and recently hired Mets manager Carlos Beltran both played a “key role in devising the sign-stealing system the team used that season” while they were a part of Houston manager A.J. Hinch’s team.

Obviously, you can't erase the past, but if this is something they've been doing, and it goes a lot further than just one postseason at this point, then you've got to stop them going forward.

Personally, I think sign stealing should be banned from the sport altogether. You can't stop a team from noticing a pitcher tipping pitches, but a guy on second shouldn't be allowed to relay pitch selection to a batter, much less the dugout doing it.

I agree but on the other hand it's as old as the dirt. Stop it as much as you can, or change up your signs if you think they're doing it.

Obviously, you can't clear it out completely, but if you blanket make it illegal, it's a punishable offense in all cases. That's a significant deterrent. The problem is, MLB has a "you shouldn't do that" attitude, and that just leaves it open for finding "better" ways to do it.

I don't want to hear any arguments about "Other teams cheat too." This goes way beyond what any other team does and had an incredible (and arguably incalculable) impact. Put an asterisk next to their division titles, league pennants, and their World Series, sure, but their farm system should be crippled for the next decade.

Put an asterisk next to their division titles, league pennants, and their World Series, sure, but their farm system should be crippled for the next decade.
