I can’t imagine wringing my hands about missing out on 34 year old Yu Darvish. He just put up a phenomenal season, but The guy is always hurt and inconsistent as hell.

I’ll wait to see how much salary the Cubs are eating. He’s signed for 3 more years, through his age 37 season, at around $20M per year.

Evidently.

Yu Darvish killed us in Game 7 of the 2017 World Series, not that it should have gone to Game 7.
So it turns out, Italian Seafood was right an everyone can go freak themselves.

Tommy Kahnle has agreed to a two-year deal with the Dodgers, a source confirms. Kahnle had TJ surgery in August and is unlikely to pitch in 2021. @Ken_Rosenthal was first with the deal.

Letting Dellin Betances go was much, much harder. And he did not look like the same pitcher when he finally came back last year. 11 IP and 7.71 ERA for the Mets last season.

The Yankees can re-sign Kahnle after his 2022 rehab season if he returns to form. Usually the first season back after TJ is a rough one.

Wow, ok. Wont look for him this year, then. Thanks.

FTR, I wouldn't have been in on Darvish.

But I don't understand the Yankees not targeting anyone. Obviously, Cole is an absolute monster, but then? You're hoping Severino returns okay from TJ. You're hoping German comes back from suspension well. Besides them? Deivi Garcia, Jordan Montgomery, Michael King, Johnathan Loaisiga all competing for 4th and 5th spots.

I'm okay reining in the spending, to a degree. No more Stanton contracts. But they're risking losing LaMahieu and not chasing someone like Bauer. Just signing those two guys would make this an overwhelmingly successful offseason.

This offseason is... 10%, 20%, would you say? ... over.

None of the top free agents have signed. The 2nd and 3rd tier FAs are very slowly trickling in. We probably wont know what the Yankees plan is until we know what happens with DJLM.

We may not know what pitching options are realistic until we find out what Bauer commands.

Interested teams suggest Trevor Bauer seeks a 5- or 6-year deal for $36M to $40M (about $200M). Bauer is coming off a brilliant Cy Young season but the star market is slow. The record AAV is $36M by Bauer’s UCLA teammate Gerrit Cole. Agent Rachel Luba declines comment on talks.

-Heyman

We’re def out on Bauer. Prob looking at Tanaka, Paxton, or Taijuan Walker.

Luis Castillo is by far the best candidate on the trade market but he would require a haul, at least as much or possibly more than Snell. Deivi’s stock isn’t as high as Patino’s and Castillo is still on his rookie deal.

I've made my feeling pretty clear on Bauer--he's the "final piece" that gets this team back to the World Series. Not pursuing him is ridiculous to me.

But I'd be in a lot better mood if it didn't feel like they were screwing around with DJ.

You're right. It's early. I just want LaMahieu back in pinstripes immediately.

I'd like to see Tanaka back. Obviously, if I had the choice between Massa and Bauer, I'm taking Trevor, but Tanaka is just the kind of guy I love having around in October.

If Cashman somehow worked an 09-esque miracle and got DJ and Tanaka back, plus Bauer, he'd be a hero to me.

We'll be able to come back to this thread in 2 months-as of right now i'd have gladly taken the certainty of getting Darvish in for 3 yrs at 20 mil per, especially considering the year he's coming off of.
