I still don't think the Cousins signing is a bad move. Yeah he's expensive for his level of performance. But he's a legitimate starting QB. Not a top 10 one but not bottom 10 either.

By signing him they're able to go BPA and build a competitive team around him while eventually looking for a franchise QB to develop. Considering how expensive talented QB's are to draft and the degree of luck involved, I think the Cousins move was a good one

Cousins was a product of no other options on the market when he was a free agent and a lot of teams needing a QB that bad. I never wanted him, we can think him indirectly for getting Darnold.

They built a team ready to compete and all they were missing was the QB. Now they have a team ready to compete and all they're missing is a QB and $28M a year.

The Cousins move has been an awful one.

Yep. Cousins has been a disaster for Minnesota.

He was never great, but he was better than this. I think the pressure of the contract is getting to him a bit. That would have surely been the case here, too.

If we signed Cousins, we probably would have been able to draft:
- Quenton Nelson/Josh Allen at No. 6
- Braden Smith/James Daniels at No. 37
- Dallas Goedert/Donte Jackson/Connor Williams at No. 50
- Rock Ya-Sin/Jawaan Taylor/Greg Little/Greedy Williams at No. 34 this year

If we drafted well, we definitely could have made a Cousins signing work (and that's still a big if). But if Darnold turns into what we think we can, we will be fine.

But i doubt Big Doug is interested in parting with any high round draft capital this year.  And i'm ok with this.  I have high expectations for his inaugural draft next April.

Especially since this is already a lost season

One or the other maybe but both? I'd rather have mediocre wideouts and improve the offensiveline

Me too. 3-4 more years and we might have a chance to be better than 5-11.

Diggs isn't worth a 1st. He's never played 16 games, he's only had one 1,000-yard season, and he will be owed a lot of money pretty soon.

If someone trades a 1st for him, they are overpaying.

Details of the paycut that kept #Vikings LT Riley Reiff in Minnesota: He agreed to take his salary from $11M to $6M, source said. A $5M paycut. Reiff can earn back $2M of that with playtime incentives.

Vikings and Ravens finalizing a trade to send DE Yannick Ngakoue to Baltimore for a 2021 third-round pick and a 2022 conditional fifth-round pick, sources tell ESPN.
 
Vikings initially sent 2021 second-round pick and 2022 conditional fifth-round pick to Jags. Now get most back.
