This is going to open up more opportunity at the bottom of the roster, too.  I'd like to see CJ Mosley earn a spot on the practice squad.

So next season we can either have an $8.5 million inside linebacker coming off a torn ACL or cut him for $2 million in dead cap.  Safe to say Avery Williamson is one and done as a New York Jet.

I liked him.  Tough break.
Seemed like a good dude, too. Always liked his interviews with Joe and Evan.

I dont seethe issue with him playing with the 2s.

The Falcons starters were still in.
His position and CJs positions are different
He may have been taking over play calling duties as well with CJ out

Hindsight is 20:20

I do think this limits our ability to play more 4-3 looks.  Unless we move to a SEA type of scheme with a LEO

Looks like Hewitt and Cashman are going to rotate next to Mosley, at least in the early going.

My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

If we aren’t trading him, we need him to start. So glad to see he is on the road to recovery
Need a new one for a new board...

I want to keep him. Regardless of Gregg's affinity for Burgess

As long as they don't need the cash, and right now it doesn't look like they will, I'd keep him. Both he and Mosley are coming back from season-long injuries. Hopefully, they both play up to their potential, but at the very least, you hope at least between them, we get a full 16 games.

Teams that draft well do so no matter where they pick. Teams that draft poorly do so no matter where they pick I want my team to win games and draft well

They're taking up $26M of cap space between them, more than any other ILB tandem in the league, and they played two games between them last season. They are going to have to be incredibly good to represent anything approaching value.

Certainly. But in a year we already have two talented guys under contract, and not much else to spend money on, just keep them. Unless, of course, someone comes along with an offer of trade for one of them (though doubtful due to lack of physicals).

Or dump Williamson, then front-load the hell out of a Jamal extension.

I go with option B. Not that I don't like Williamson, but having that much money tied up in two MLBs who have both had serious injuries concerns me greatly.

Williamson for Trent Williams would make me so happy.  Come on, Ron!
