Getting Sam involved a metric fuckton of luck. Hell it even involved the Browns NEEDING to be the team picking at 1. There’s a pretty good argument had it been anyone else except for them (and buffalo) of the QB needy teams, Sam would be playing elsewhere

I mean I love Sam and he was my QB1, but Baker has looked great so far and we would all be happy to have if Sam went #1. Either way, their eval of QB1/QB2 with Sam/Baker or Baker/Sam was correct, and their belief that the Giants were picking Barkley was right. Maybe the fact that we got Sam was lucky, but the fact that we got a franchise QB was not.

I don't think it was ever going to be Rosen. My recollection was that prior to the draft we were mostly convincing ourselves why Allen was going to be a good choice for us as the third QB off the board, hoping that Mayfield might fall, and dreaming that somehow Sam would be available.
