Jets trade for Colts CB Nate Hairston
« on: August 28, 2019, 11:19:23 AM »
Trade: Jets dealing a 2020 6th-round pick to the Colts for CB Nate Hairston, per source. Hairston started 11 games the past two years. Still has two years left on his contract.

Assistant GM Rex Hogan came from the Colts. Familiar with Hairston.

6th-round pick must really mean they like him. Sounds like he is a physical cornerback who is willing to tackle and help in the run game. Dont know much else about him.

We have two sixth rounders because of the Darron Lee trade.

Hairston provides solid CB depth with starting experience...something we did not have before this trade.

True. I'm just used to trades at this time involving conditional picks, like the Alex Lewis trade. But I guess this late in the offseason, you dont trade for someone if they arent going to make the team. And given our CB "depth," he is going to make the team.

Read he was primarily used in the slot in indy.

Isn't our most glaring need for someone who can play outside?

According to the Colts fan he's a good nickel who lost his place to Kenny Moore and never really got any first team reps after that. Likes to hit and blitzes well, virtually never played outside for the Colts.
