we stopped posting 'Q sighting' in the game threads earlier this year because his sightings were just becoming much more commonplace. very happy with how he's developed and on top of that he seems like a good dude. will turn only 23 in december
His age is why I was still confident in him going into this year.
I thought this was a huge year for Darnold and Quinnen. Year 3 for a QB and a potentially lame duck coach if things go wrong. He needed to have a good year to show that he would one day live up to his draft stock and be a long-term answer.
Year 2 for a DT drafted 3rd overall, kind of the same thing. As a 21-year old fresh out of college, I can understand him struggling against grown men as a rookie. Plus, he was injured. After a full offseason, even in a COVID offseason, I was hoping he would be a lot better this year, and he's even exceeded my expectations. He's showing that he very well could live up to that lofty draft stock, and that's difficult for a DT taken in the top 5.
There's a world where the 2022 Jets have a top-5 QB in Lawrence, a top-3 OT in Becton, and a top-3 DT in Quinnen. Becton and Quinnen are exciting building blocks.
