Paddack and Allen are likely to be up this year. Lucchessi is solid but the rest of the rotation is a question mark. Maybe Richards can help next year. I'd love to trade for a true ace type though to really vaunt the team into contention this season.

Margot is pretty meh but his defense gives him a high floor at least, Franimal needs to DH as his defense is garbage, Renfroe is garbage, Cordero is intriguing but we'll see.

I think the main thing now is to try to acquire some pitching and see if we can offload Myers.

Knew I was missing a SP prospect

Forgot they had Myers, thought they already traded him tbh

Word seems to be that Machado will play third, Urias short, and Kinsler second until Tatis comes up. Then it'll be Urias at second, Tatis at short, Machado at third. Not sure I'd rather have Machado at short but Padres have absolutely nothing at third besides Machado so that probably makes the most sense.

That sounds ideal. Machado is an elite 3B and below avg SS

Yeah for sure. I think he'll end up there most of the time.

Padres' pitching is likely not good enough for a playoff run, but gotta like the lineup rn

If he couldn't be a Yankee then I'm happy with this outcome.

Luckily in the NL you can prob roll with Bryan Mitchell as your #2 and make a deep playoff run. Better than the Brewers rotation last year

The #Padres have signed RHP Adam Warren to a one-year contract with a club option for 2020

This team is stacked

Ay Jumbo. Just finished up my dynasty baseball draft. 40 man roster, $400 salary cap.

I drafted Matt Strahm ($4), Eric Lauer ($2), and I kept Chris Paddack ($3) from last year. Can you give me a rundown on what you think about those guys and the 2018 outlook on the Padres rotation?

They’re all really cheap, for reference I’m paying Syndergaard $50, Strasburg $35, and Tanaka $21. Those guys are all overpaid, but I had no pitching at the end of last season and landed them in offseason trades for cheap since their owners weren’t going to be able to keep them.

Paddack looks like a stud in the making but he'll clearly be on an innings limit this year. Almost certainly under <100 IP in the majors. Could be great off the bat though if his ST performance is legit.

Lauer is likely only going to be meh at best, especially as a rookie, IMO. Not a very high ceiling type of player.

Strahm, I have no idea. FO seems to have some faith in him but not sure he'll have the longest leash

Ty sir. Last I saw opening day starter was between Strahm/Luchessi with the Padres prospect hive pushing paddack. I regret bidding on Lauer but $2 is a good price if he ends up being an average SP

I’m highest on paddack

I also have Franchy Cordero for cheap, if he plays like he did last year he’ll pay dividends

Opening day is probably gonna be Lucchesi I think. I would definitely be hyped for Paddack. Paddack is definitely gonna be the best from that group, think he could be a future #2 type.

I love Franchy, but not sure he'll get too much playing time this year unless we manage to move Myers. Which we desperately need to do.

Chris Paddack will start Monday against the Mariners, seemingly lining him up to start the third game of the regular season for the Padres on Saturday versus the Giants.

Matt Strahm is starting Tuesday, which would appear to line him up to start Sunday against the Giants. They will follow Opening Day starter Eric Lauer and Joey Lucchesi, who will get the second game. The fifth spot in the Padres' rotation remains up for grabs.

“It's impressive seeing Chris Paddack's progression the farther he moves away from Tommy John. Last year in his first season back he was 90-93 and reached back for 95-96 when he needed it. Tonight he's sitting 94-95 in Seattle. Big jump in year two.”

“Chris Paddack ranged from 73.7 mph to 95.8 mph in tonight's outing. also had 12 whiffs in 49 pitches.”
