Realmuto to Philly for prospects.

Phillies still need one of the big two, and another arm both for the pen and the rotation imho.

What’s Vlad’s callup date?

Definitely not until the season is three weeks old, no point burning a year of control to have him up from the beginning of a season that we're not going to be competing in.

Of course. Smart man. Do they do it right away? I would.

Fangraphs has Vlad as the #1 prospect in 2019 (Ohtani 1 and Acuna 2 last year) and gave him a 70 FV rating. That’s what they had Ohtani at last year.

They also have him an 80/80 Raw Power grade, which is insane. They have him at 65/70 Game Power, which is also pretty insane.

They think it’s only a matter of time before he has to move off of 3B though.

I guess it depends to some extent on what happens in preseason, his hitting is obviously beyond question so it will depend on his fitness and his defense. I thnk Drury is the starting 3B for now and he wasn't bad last season, so we don't have to rush him.

Arenado, 27, just 16 months older than Bryce Harper, has been offered a contract extension that will pay him $245 million over seven years through 2025, two people with knowledge of the talks told USA TODAY Sports and were granted anonymity because negotiations are ongoing.

Under this proposal, the Rockies will tear up this year's contract that is due to pay Arenado $26 million and replace it with the $245 million contract that would pay the third baseman a record average annual salary of $35 million, obliterating Miguel Cabrera’s record of $31 million per year for a position player.

FEBRUARY 22: The Dodgers have shut down star hurler Clayton Kershaw indefinitely, manager Dave Roberts tells Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times. The venerable southpaw is dealing with an unspecified health issue that Roberts would describe only as an “arm kind of thing.”

The sides are discussing a ten-year deal, per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. Salary levels are not known, but Pavlovic says the Giants’ offer would “likely give Harper a chance at the record dollar figure he has been looking for.”
