Why isn't he on the Jets? He's better than Quigs, and the media and social circles in this city would love his activism.

An actual punter on the Jets hasn't happened in quite some time. I could give a freak what they support politically.

Sound great until he's stirring the pot here.  I have no idea on his punting ability.

Seconded.

He said he's retired in the article, but this would have been a guy to get at the beginning of the year.

I read through most of this but didn't bother to finish it (when I saw it light Twitter up like a Chrismas tree a little while ago).

Here are my thoughts:

1) Kluwe isn't super-talented, playing a position that gets loads of turnover, on a bad team. His 45.68 yards/punt average ranks 50th among all punters since 2011. Maybe it wasn't his mouth that got him shitcanned?

2) He was asked repeatedly by the team to not be such a loudmouth. I'm not against his message, but it's amazing how people believe when a bigot like the guy from Duck Dynasty says something it's: "You have a right to say what you want, but you have to expect consequences" but when someone is outspoken like this it is expected that there shouldn't be consequences.

I'm anti-bigotry and I respect that he's publicly outspoken on the topic of the right to marriage. Still, you know you're a player in a sport that clearly shuns homosexuality. You can say what you want, you can believe what you want, but you can't expect there to be no consequences.

This guy is a hero to the anti-athlete nerd crowd because he plays Warcraft as well as a professional sport. Where was the outrage for Kerry Rhodes when he couldn't get a job after his boyfriend revealed himself?

Chris Kluwe is a better tackler than Kerry Rhodes.

If you read your quote of me, then your response, then the dcm quote in your sig it's gold.

I bailed on that article about 1/3 of the way down.  Too long.  Don't care.

Rhodes is also kind of a douche and IIRC, denies he's gay.

Given recent media history, I guarantee it would create a month of press conferences where reporters ask Rex about gay rights issues and nothing else.

Its pretty clear that the Vikings organization is pretty fucked up.

But It also really seems like him getting fired had very little to do with his views.

Hes a mediocre punter in his 30s, who in his own words referenced him having several poor and  "substandard" games (and people usually sugarcoat it when it comes to themselves)

And then he has knee surgery after the season, and wonders why he got cut.

Also doesnt help his case that he tried to make a comeback and couldnt latch on with any other teams.

Had the guy successfully staged a comeback and stuck with an nfl roster to have a relatively good season he could totally have stuck it to the Vikings organization. But just seems like hes mad for getting fired (and probably also for having to play for a bunch of poopchute coaches)
