Jets CEO Christopher Johnson

First the Suh story, now this:

Quote
Kevin Seifert @SeifertESPN

@nyjets owner Christopher Johnson strongly opposes any @NFL policy change that would restrict player expression: “I can't speak to how other people run their teams, but I just think that trying to forcibly get the players to shut up is a fantastically bad idea."

I like this dude so far.

I like this quote.

I hate the Suh story. Let the football people make the football decisions. Owner meddling is a bad thing.

Meh, Johnson has done everything else right to this point.  With the buzz coming out that the Jets wanted Suh but felt that he went past their deadline and was using them for leverage, I have absolutely no problem with Johnson being a voice in the room saying "this is not how we're going to do business and how we're going to let players do business with us."  Especially after how it was reported that the Jets felt with the Cousins negotiation.

Johnson is quietly and respectfully pulling out his dick and sticking it on the table.  He's sending a message that the Jets are not to be fucked with.

“We moved very quickly to Plan B,” Johnson said at the annual NFL meetings. “It’s almost a shame to call it Plan B, because it’s shaping up as something pretty magnificent. I’m pretty excited about it.

“It’s pretty exciting,” Johnson said. “I am thrilled that we have that much more ability to control our destiny here. I think it’s really a positive. … I am 100 percent sure having talked with Mike (Maccagnan) and with (VP of Player Personnel) Brian Heimerdinger and with coaches that we are going to do something special with that No. 3 spot.”

“I heard that a lot out in the parking lot before the games,” Johnson said of fans’ imploring him to find a quarterback. “That’s a big concern. A huge concern. And rightfully so. It’s been a while since they could go, ‘Wow! We got the quarterback.’”

This doesn’t scream Josh Allen to me. Chris seems like a sharp enough guy to be aware that there wouldn’t be an overwhelmingly positive fan reaction if they drafted Allen, uncertainty at best.

If he isn't aware now, he will be when he's overwhelmed with "Draft the Jew" chants.
