My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

“Would Josh McCown want to be traded if he isn't Week 1 starter?

"Oh no, I love being a part of the Jets. I just want to see this team do well & see the QB room do well...But those things are out of your control. I love being a part of this group. I want to help this team succeed"

We should go back in time 20 years and trade him to the Knicks for Charlie Ward. A win-win.
So it turns out, Italian Seafood was right an everyone can go freak themselves.

#Jets QB Josh McCown hasn’t ruled out playing in 2019, nor for a team where he’d be backup. As was case last year, he will talk to his wife & kids before deciding anything

i doubt he comes back here

From an on the field standpoint you have to hope that Webb kid from the Giants could beat out McCown for the backup job.

But it would sure be nice to keep McCown around as a resource to Darnold. An assistant QB coach would be preferable, but if he's adamant to be a player then he's probably worth keeping as the #2 man (for substantially less money than recent years)

I'd think this decision would have a lot to do with 1) the Jets' desire to retain him (hopefully they do) and 2) his kids' comfort level in school.
Teams that draft well do so no matter where they pick. Teams that draft poorly do so no matter where they pick I want my team to win games and draft well

he got paid 10 million to be a positive influence on Darnold.  When he acutally played this year, he wasn't very good.

I have no issue re-signing him, but not at that price point.  His age and skill level should net him a contract at the vet minimum.

I’m sure he would rather get paid $10M to backup QB somewhere rather than get paid whatever a QB coach does

Because we thought we might need him to start or play more. Now we know, nobody else is paying him more than we would.

last year we also had the money to afford that. This year with 19 players needed, we can’t spend 1/10th on a backup QB/Mentor to Sam
Need a new one for a new board...

Best case is no one else can afford that either, he decides to retire, we give him a gig as Sam Darnold’s uncle
