America is fucked. England has a rough road, too. freaking France...

Guess I'm falling back on Germany this year.

Boateng vs Boateng?

Same as in 2010, right?

Apparently the new NYC soccer team will be located just south of Yankee Stadium on 153rd street.

I'm trying to stifle my bitterness about the ever-so-briefly discussed Jets stadium in Queens.

Now I have a soccer team that I can actually support. I never bought into the Red Bulls bullshit.

I know that a West Side stadium could have been a waste of billions of tax payer dollars but I'm still extremely bitter it didn't happen.

And if they got an MLS team in the West Side too, that would've been awesome. There's a gigantic market for a super-accessible soccer venue.

I'm presuming that the Cosmos' stadium will be about a third of the size of an NFL stadium, which is probably a factor.

The Cosmos still actually exist, but play in a different league. A friend of mine works for the MLS and told me that there were talks about bringing the Cosmos into the MLS, but that the Cosmos demands were ridiculous. Didn't get much more information, but I was hoping that they'd end up being NY's team. Oh well.

The population that spoke out against the Queens proposal the loudest wouldn't have cared how big it was if it was a soccer stadium.

I'm not comparing this to the WSS, that presented a whole different (and greater) set of obstacles.

There's a third NY team coming? I thought you were talking about the Cosmos.

The Cosmos aren't the team that'll be based in the Bronx. It's "New York FC".

Yeah, and I think the Cosmos are also in the mix for a new stadium out in Queens, coincidentally.

So dumb that they ended up with the NASL. I'm willing to bet that they would have garnered a sizable following had they agreed to join the MLS.
