Agreed with Reuben. With the talent at OLine and WR, we need to feed the offense in the draft...especially given what our current WR corps looks like.
We aren't winning the title in 2020 (though I'm sure I'll bet on it since I'm a fool). We need to build a team. We're starting Bless Austin, Pierre Desir and Brian Poole at cornerback, with two of those guys on one-year deals. And Austin is a giant question mark.

If we draft Jeff Okudah at 11, then double-dip in the 2nd and 3rd rounds at WR and take an OT with the other spot, I will be thrilled. That sounds crazy, but an NFL.com mock recently had that happen. There's a scenario where 3 QBs and 4 OTs go in the top 10. In that scenario, someone will drop. In that case, give me Okudah, and let me grab 2 of these quality receivers in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Any ties in talent level should go to the offense, but if there's an elite talent there for us at CB or edge, we need to take a hard look. Our defense isn't far away from being really good.

Thirded. I don't see any good reason not to give Clowney a hefty lump of money and tell Gregg to take draft weekend off to put his feet up.

This. Use the savings from not overpaying at other positions to splurge on Clowney on a short-term deal. Surround Darnold with as much young, cost-controlled talent as possible in the draft.

An elite talent like Young or Okudah falling to us is the exception. Otherwise, it's hard to justify drafting a defensive player in the first few rounds barring a wide talent disparity.

I completely agree.  I don't care if we get gashed for 500 yards by every quarterback in the league this season; if our quarterback takes the next step then we're on schedule.  If we don't draft young offensive talent, he won't.

Our defense isn't far away from being really good.

Agreed.  Our offense is.  Draft offense.

I don’t think splurging on Clowney is going to give us what we want in a pass rusher. And he clearly wants a huge deal.

I think Everson Griffen or Markus Golden might be better options.

I’m starting to think perhaps we should sign both of them. A rotation of Griffin, Jenkins and Golden might not be a bad rotation to have

I would actually be very happy about that.

It doesn't seem to fit Douglas' MO thus far and I don't trust Clowney not to half-derriere it.

A one year, prove it deal gets the best version of Clowney

I don’t think he’ll come down to JD’s price mark.

From Boomer on WFAN:

-Anderson turned down 4years/$40Mil offer from Jets
-Wanted to play for his old coach (Rhule)
-Thinks he can get another, better deal from Carolina at the end of this one.

Good luck to him, Twitter nonsense aside, he was a good player here. I hope it works out for him.

If that's true, I'm less disappointed. 4 years / $40M is a very fair offer given his market, if he took a worse deal to play for his old coach then fair enough.

Says something about his view of Adam Gase though.

Robby Anderson's agent would have to be retarded not to take that deal.  It's twice as much money with what has to be a bigger guarantee.
