Gareth Edwards did such a great job with a meh script.  His non-human characters were so much more compelling than the human ones.  The scene when the MUTO realizes all of her eggs were torched was freaking brilliant, as was anything with Godzilla.  I just don't get the choice to not give him more of a role.  The human interest stories were so shallow that they felt tacked on.  Cranston was wasted.  Ultimately, he was plot fodder, and then Johnson was dreadful.  The wife and son storyline?  Poorly developed and another wasted talent in Olsen.  Still, it was worth it for the creatures themselves.

Godzilla wrecking the MUTO mother...wow

You know your character developmental and script suck a dick when the MUTOs meeting up was more thrilling and human then anything involving Olsen and Kick-derriere.

It wasn't bad.  It wasn't great either.  If you can see it in IMAX or in 3D, it's definitely worth the ticket price.

Fun movie. Not great, but awesome visuals, especially in IMAX 3D.
