I'm not ashamed to admit that subtitles helped me immensely through the first season until I got the ear for it.

I'm sorry, but this pasty middle aged middle class Englishman doesn't have much of an ear for Baltimore street slang.

This:

Dany's arc was awful and it ruined the entire series for me.

There are some classic battle scenes that I can watch again and again, but man what garbage writing for the final eight episodes.

And this:

Season 8 ruined that whole show.  I can't even watch the good seasons anymore because I know what's coming.

Also, the ending makes Hodor so much worse.

It’s why I haven’t finished it

I have to be in the right mood to pay complete attention to it and the required subtitles

Assuming you're talking about series with continuous story arcs, in no particular order except for the first:

The West Wing
The X Files
The Wire
House
Peaky Blinders

Honourable mentions for ER, True Detective and Sons Of Anarchy which were all brilliant at points but had periods where they weren't so great. Justified doesn't make the list because I stopped early in season 5 and never got back to it, but if the last two seasons are as good as the first 4 it will probably find its way into my top 5.

The one thing that the top 5 all have in common is that I can happily watch any of them again.
Don't know how I forgot Devs from this list but it needs to be on it.

Through four episodes of Gangs of London and it might be the best action series ever made.

Gareth Evans is just absolutely brilliant when it comes to choreographing fight scenes and action sequences.

I have another 3 or 4 recap shows to watch before I'm ready.

I'll be Gone in the Dark premiers tomorrow on HBO for the true crime crowd. I'll be watching.
