2016 OffSeason
« on: February 11, 2016, 07:17:21 PM »
Didn't see one.

Barry Sanders Jr is transferring to Oklahoma St after he graduates from Stanford. He'll be eligible to play in 2016 as a graduate transfer.

Guess he figured out he'd never play over McCaffrey, and he can compete for the starting job in OK St.

Any other notable moves?

Christian McCaffrey's younger brother Dylan committed to Michigan to play QB.  He looks like the real deal.

He's a 2017 graduate.

I assumed he'd be Stanford bound, then I saw a few crystal balls to Michigan on 247 and knew it was all over.

I'm sure it dosen't mean excrement, but I wonder what type of input Christian had?

Looking at the bigger picture, Stanford has a few really good QBs waiting to play now that Hogan is gone.

Michigan only has Zack Gentry waiting to play behind O'Korn, but he's far from a sure thing.  He could be really, really good though.  Alex Malzone looks like a QB that will end up transferring to a MAC school, but maybe he'll develop.

JC Jackson, a former Gator who got the boot after some legal issues, looking for a new school. The existence if TROB says SCAR is the favorite.

Taysom Hill is gonna stay at BYU, instead of transferring to another big name D1.

It's not like transferring will keep him healthy.

I imagine Mangum will win the starting job, he was better than Hill when Hill was healthy.

Maybe as a passer.  Hill is a great runner.

Quote
USA Today- There is now a major college football strength and conditioning coach making nearly $600,000 a year: Iowa’s Chris Doyle. Doyle will make $595,000 in base compensation from the university for a one-year period that began July 1, according to information provided by the university in response to an open-records request from USA TODAY Sports. Doyle’s compensation reflects a raise of $80,000, or 15.5%, over his pay for last year and it matches the basic amounts that Hawkeyes offensive coordinator Greg Davis and defensive coordinator Phil Parker are scheduled to make. Doyle is being paid more than double the amounts going to many of his Big Ten Conference peers, and it’s $70,000 more than what reigning national champion Alabama’s Scott Cochran is being paid this season. It’s also greater than what 29 FBS public-school head coaches made last season in basic pay. “Most of the people who follow our program know that what’s very important to Kirk is student-athlete development — physically, mentally, leadership,” Iowa athletics director Gary Barta said Monday. “He relies heavily on Chris’ role in that.” Since 2003, Iowa has had five former walk-ons chosen in the NFL Draft
