I wasn't gonna comment but I will...

I know people who have killed and I know people who have been killed.
I know people who's stupid decisions severely hurt themselves or people they care about. I know people who were severely hurt because of previously unknown people.
I know people who have killed themselves.
I've had friends OD from drugs, I've had family members OD from drugs. I've had friends and family who's drug use fucked OTHER people's lives up. Almost every time, it was a person they cared about.

I have been to 4 major jails to visit people who did stupid things to get there.
I've had friends of mine on the front page of major newspapers because of dumb things that they did.

I've had friends who did drugs and had their minds clouded and effected their decision making to the point where they did something stupid to themselves or someone else.

I've rambled on here a little, but do you get JE's point yet dcm? I agree that this dude fucked up and now other people and their families have to deal with the ramifications and that's certainly not fair, but a monster?
Jeffrey Dahmer's a monster. Ariel Castro's a monster. Idi Amin in a monster. This guy plain and simple fucked up. And now, people's lives are screwed up. Is he monster? I don't think so, but did he freak up? Incredibly.

I can't remember the guy's name but a relief pitcher from the California Angels got killed by a drunk driver a few years back, along with a couple of other people and they had on videotape the reaction of the drunk driver after he sobered up and was told what he did...it is one of the most heart breaking things I've ever seen.

Before you pile on me dcm, he deserved what he got, which was life in prison, but, to me, he's just a guy who really fucked up who's gonna pay for it every day the rest of his life. It won't bring anyone he killed back to life, but he's a human being. One who didn't intend to do something like this but...he did, and now every waking second he has to deal with what he did one stupid night of his life.

I have driven many times over 100 mph. It's fun and stupid at the same time.

 The guy f-cked up, I don't think demonizing him is correct. He made a mistake, he paid the ultimate price for it, as did a few innocent people. I am not about to call him scum for something I have done quite a bit.

Edit: I hope he wasn't drinking and this wasn't him racing someone.
