Mets traded Jon Niese for Neil Walker and signed Asdrubal Cabrera to play shortstop.

Good moves by the Mets

Way better than urinating away 4 year gazillion money on 35 year old Zobrist

And Walker is a better player than Zobrist and as a trade for Neise it added no payroll

Asdubral is a major league SS who will probably outplay Wilmer

Plus Cabrera and Walker and minus Neise is a big upgrade

I love the Cespedes deal, seems like a great move for both sides. He can go back on the market for a long term deal after one year in a weak free agent market and the Mets don't have to commit for years of potential decline.

Ruben Tejada waivered, which annoys me. Best infield depth by far, significantly better than Matt Reynolds. Arguably a comparable player to Asdrubal Cabrera over the past two years. And with Wright limited, Flores is going to be playing a lot of third base this year - which means we need as much solid infield depth as possible.

Just don't really understand the logic.

Harvey named opening day starter. DeGrom and Matz could both wind up pitching in game 2. Syndergaard expected to pitch the home opener.

Syndergaard was filthy today. 6 innings of 3-hit ball with 9 K's.

Mets aren't falling apart yet, which is good. Amazing how pessimistic I still am after last year.

Nothing quiet about 6 in a row and 11 out of 13.

Mets are built to dominate the regular season, barring catastrophic injuries. They're essentially trotting an ace on the mound every day. If they can put up 3 or more runs they have a great chance of winning.

But who's been talking about them? All I've been hearing about are the Nationals.

Matz, DeGrom and Harvey have all had relatively shaky starts to their seasons, though, which is a little concerning.

Matz had one bad start after a long layoff and has been very good since, deGrom has started only two games due to a lat strain and his wife giving birth (yet still has a 1.54 ERA), and Harvey has put together back-to-back encouraging starts after an awful start to his season. Personally, I think it's more impressive that they're 13-7 despite the disruption in the rotation.
