They don't necessarily want to replace Trubisky, they just want someone good enough to compete with him in the hope that it makes him better. That's all I can think.

If Nagy wanted a guy he's worked with before, I get it. But Foles contract is so prohibitive he's literally an underwater asset. Why give up anything meaningful? You want to get the contract off your books and avoid the awkwardness of a pre-ordained competition that everyone knows Minshew is going to win? Here's your conditional 7th, GTFO.

Trubisky reminds me a lot of Alex Smith when he was with San Francisco before Jim Harbaugh took over.

Nagy stinks and didn't do a lot to help him develop into a solid starter.
