My dad always says he's undefeated at tailgating

Maybe it's not I who doesn't know what he's talking about

“It doesn’t change the NFC Championshp game, but changes have been made: All offensive and defensive pass interference calls, as well as non-calls, now be challenged, per league source.”

Good. It's the single most egregiously called penalty in the game, and it has the biggest impact.

As an adjunct to this, the one rule I want to see implemented is an automatic ten yard penalty on any player making a flag throwing motion to the refs. I'm so freaking sick of receivers and Tom Brady trying to call a penalty on every single incomplete pass.

The Bengals are the only team that voted against the new DPI and OPI rule, per sources

Coaches still have the same number of challenges as they did last season.

The only thing bad about this rule change is it should have allowed for a challenge of any call or non-call. What about holding calls or ones that aren't flagged? Those hurt too.

This is probably the only subject where I agree with Bill Belichick. All calls/non-calls should be reviewable. Period. You get 3 challenges a game, and they'd be much better used for making sure human error doesn't screw things up.

National Challenge League

I really don't understand people's problem with challenges. People complained challenges would make games longer, and they didn't. They didn't make baseball games longer either.

The technology exists to get calls right. If this new rule was ratified 12 months ago, maybe the Saints beat the damn Pats rather than watching the Rams excrement the bed.

According to Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal, NFL owners have proposed an 18-game regular season with a caveat that no player would be allowed to compete in more than 16 games.
The NFLPA has been reluctant to stretch the regular season beyond its current 16-game schedule due to injury concerns, but putting a cap on how many games a player can suit up for would be a fair compromise. Per Beaton, extending the regular season by two games could increase league revenue by $2.5 billion while potentially adding $15 million to each team's salary cap. Choosing when to sit players would also add an interesting layer to coaching decisions. It's unclear how much (if any) traction this idea has, but it's not the worst idea the NFL has ever come up with.

Interesting idea.
