Bill Cowher just gave an excellent, simple explanation of what the new rule should be regarding what is considered a catch in the NFL. Basically, if you have control of the ball and are have both feet/knee/elbow/derriere down, it's a catch and nothing that happens beyond that matters. In the middle of the field, if you have control of the ball and break the plane of the goalie, it's a TD, nothing beyond that matters.
Very simple. Then the only questionable part is the judgment call of whether he has possession. No more worrying about whether he let go of the ball after the catch and the process of falling downand getting up and going home and getting a sandwich.
