I've long advocated for trading preseason games for ones that count, but that idea is just trash.

Say the Jets are a win from the playoffs, with two games to go, and have yet to have sat Darnold and Bell. GTFO

Cut out a preseason game and add one regular-season game, or cut 2 preseason, add an additional bye, and add 2 real games.
Teams that draft well do so no matter where they pick. Teams that draft poorly do so no matter where they pick I want my team to win games and draft well

So both AFC playoff games are on the same day?  Wasn't it always one from each conference or am I just having a Berenstein Bears moment?

I think you’re right but there wasn’t a rule for it or anything. They just slot them for ratings

First time I remember it this way. AFC East vs AFC South day, should be fun.
So it turns out, Italian Seafood was right an everyone can go freak themselves.

The talk of a two year strike isn't something I'm particularly fond of

No, although I think that Smith's words were less rabble-raising firebrand and more cautionary. They have a bunch of key things agreed already, he's basically saying that if the members want him to dig his heels in about the other outstanding items (especially the extra game) he will but they need to be aware that it could be a long and difficult fight.

An NFL strike could help us with the cap.

Obviously no one wants any part of a strike...

...but I'm just saying an mini lockout that pushes free agency back into July was fun as hell the last time it happened.

By the way, fwiw, the 17 game season IMHO is the dumbest idea going. The regular season/playoff structure of the NFL is perfect. Keep it as it is. If anything, cut down the pre-season by a game or two.

Pre season week 4 has become a total waste, at least get rid of that.

But then it would just become preseason week 3.
