People who have friends that suck

if they're female, that's a pro not a con.

Alshon Jeffrey is on the block.  He can be kept at a 7th rounder this year.

PM me if you're interested.

And no AR, i don't want Bernard Pierce.

So MB and I agreed in principle to commence the following trade:

MB gets my 2nd round pick

I get Alshon Jeffery (whom I'll be keeping for a 7th rounder)

The trade's completion is only contingent upon Jeffery maintaining health through the Bears' 3rd preseason game.

We do have an unusual problem with the trade, though.  Alshon was slated to jump to 7th this year, but MB already has Bell as a franchise keeper in the 7th round.  He'd have to use his 6th on Alshon.  I have no problem with AR keeping him with a 7th, however MB has to be willing to then use his 6th on Bell this year.  It won't change his keeper value moving forward, but it's the fairest way to settle the issue.

How does bumping Bell to a 6th make it fair? fair to whom?

AR gets to keep Alshon at a 7th....while I go forward with only 2 keepers (instead of 3).  I don't see why Bell needs to be bumped up a round.  It sounds like i'm getting penalized a round for no reason.

I think the round escalation for Bell is both temporary and arbitrary because you would have had to give up either your 6th or 7th with Jeffery to make the trade work.

So if you wanted to trade me your 6th with Jeffery and keep Bell at a 7th the result would effectively be the same.

After this year, you can still keep Bell franchised at a 7th (or at least that's my understanding).

I think this can be resolved if I give you my 7th for your 8th.

What?  You have to trade the pick that he's selected with.  You can send your 6th to AR if you'd like.  It doesn't matter.

Unfortunately, you have to send a pick with the player because we both need to come out of this trade with 16 draft picks.

Bell is a 7th for as long as you keep him.  It's logistics that make it necessary for you to send either your 6th or 7th to AR and use the other on Bell.
