Not that unusual.  The Patriots, including IR players, have 21 who were on their roster in 2011.

EDIT: The Packers are the high end.  They still have 28 players from 2011.

How many are starters?

They have 7 players who were starters on the team in 2011 and are starters now.  The Jets have 6.  (8/7 if you count kickers)

That's crazy!  I never realized there was that much turnover.

Yeah, they've had a ton of it lately.  A lot of teams do.  The perpetually successful teams find a way to keep their talent, but you're always going to lose some.

Yeah, the first and last year were the best finishes. It's really just how you're playing at the time and against whom, it's easy to read a lot more into it than you should.

The best year we had, 2010, in December we had the disaster at New England, then a bad loss six days later to Miami, then had to go on the road to face Pittsburgh and Chicago who hosted the two championship games a month later. By contrast the worst year we had, 2012, we got Arizona at home and at Jacksonville, both times we were 2-3 to end the year, vastly different teams.
So it turns out, Italian Seafood was right an everyone can go freak themselves.
