RB/FB/TE
« on: May 21, 2015, 09:02:23 AM »
I think there may be some overlap in who gets kept or cut in these positions.  Bowles said that if there was a position that had more talent, then he would keep the extra player at the expense of another position.  So it's possible we have no FB and keep an extra TE if Cumberland and Saxton both play well enough to stay.  If we keep a 4th RB, we might lose a FB or a TE.  If Copeland comes in and plays well, we might cut Saxton or Cumberland.

Ultimately it's good because Gailey isn't tied to having a FB or not and we can keep the best players on the team without having to cut a good WR for the sake of keeping a shitty FB.

My gut feeling is that we will cut Cumberland, Sudfeld, and Bohanon, while keeping Copeland, Saxton, and Kellen Davis.

Please don't insert Geno comments here.

According to Todd Bowles, Jeff Cumberland is currently the #1 inline tight end.  He called Jace Amaro the #1 F-Back.  The F-Back isn't a FB.  It's like a hybrid of WR and TE.  Amaro will probably spend a lot of time in the slot.

Kellen Davis has a solid shot to make the team because he's the only true blocking tight end on the roster.  Nate Sudfeld will have to put up a fight to make the 53 man roster.

Wes Saxton will probably stick as a practice squad F-Back.

RB is going to be interesting after the Zac Stacy trade.  Chris Ivory is pretty much a lock to make the final roster, but he's on the final year of his deal and a starting spot isn't guaranteed.

Stevan Ridley and Boom Powell are also on one year deals.  Stacy is signed through 2016.  Ridley only has $80K guaranteed, so he'll have to show full recovery to stick.  Daryl Richardson is most likely gone.

JC Copeland has enough ability to take Tommy Bohanon's job at FB.

What do you think to his brother Zach's chances?

We should just sneak Nate Sudfeld onto the team and dump Zach.  Bypass the use of a draft pick completely.  If the Cowboys can do it by secretly shooting a pregnant woman, we should be able to do it by swapping brothers.
