Patriots free-agent RB Stevan Ridley is visiting NY Jets today, per source. He already has visited Dolphins.

Sign him only for goal line TD runs against the Pats.

Was he the one that fumbled all the time?

Averages a fumble every 81 carries, which is almost exactly twice as often as Ivory and virtually the same rate as Adrian Peterson.

Yeah but he used under-inflated footballs. Can you imagine how bad it will be with regulation footballs?

He's good, but Belichick fucked him mentally by benching him every time he fumbled. I think that's a retarded strategy and this time obviously backfired. I wouldn't mind having him on the Jets, he's leagues more talented than Powell (albeit different)

How is that Belichick's fault?  Benching a player that loses the football makes plenty of sense.

He's a grown man.  He should be able to understand that it is nothing personal.

I come from another environment, soccer, and in soccer you don't bench a player after a mistake, especially a glaring one. In my opinion, there's not a rule for these kinds of things, you have to see what kind of person you're dealing with. Some you pamper more, some you provoke more. In the case of Ridley, whatever thing Belichick did, didn't work. Obviously it's not all his fault, but it's possible that the situation could have been handled better. Let's see how he does on his next team, whether it's us or not.

I also come from the world of soccer, and your comparison fundamentally doesn't work because you don't get to choose your on-field personnel on a play-by-play basis. As you know.

I don't love the comparison, but I agree with the principle. It's dumb to take out a more talented player for an extended period because he makes a mistake like fumbling the ball one time. He already made the mistake, "punishing him" by taking him out may work with HS kids who are learning to secure the ball, but not professionals.  If he's averaging fumbles every 80 carries the odds are against him screwing up again. Put your best guy in the game.
