There were reports of misfires happening earlier in the filming l, so I guess it's possible.
In all honesty, I don't get what this claim accomplishes, he was told the gun was cold. I honestly don't expect every actor to check the gun before firing because there are (supposedly) trained professionals who should be checking this excrement and controlling the live rounds. Although I'm expecting that to change going forward after this.
