I have an irrational fear that one day while walking past reception I will slip or somehow flail my arms out in a way that will knock over everything on the desk, including the large glass jar of assorted candy which would shatter everywhere.

I can't explain why I have this thought.

You received lots of wedgies as a kid.

No, but I do also have intrusive thoughts when I'm on the subway about how awful it would be if I started uncontrollably shitting.

But that's not work-related.

How cool would it be if you caused a real life lardass scene from Stand By Me.

So for my office secret santa I made a donation in my target's name, as per their request on the secret santa portal. A card should be sent to them in a few days, but tomorrow is the actual gift exchange. What should I do? I feel like I need to bring something.

Maybe you should elaborate on who your target is.

Tell him that since he's too pretentious to accept an actual gift, you made a donation to your own favorite charity: yourself, and that he can go F himself.

Problem solved.

What's pretentious about asking for a donation?

So you took the "pretentious" piece (not about asking for a donation, rather "being too good for" a gift) as the significant part of telling your boss to go F himself?

My company's CEO sent out a mass email asking anyone who was considering getting him a gift to donate here and a couple other specific charitable causes instead.

I don't have an issue with company executives asking for donations to be made in lieu of gifts. In fact, I think it's admirable.

I was simply telling Tommy to tell his boss to F himself.
