Riley Page, lead singer of Texas thrash metal band Power Trip, at 34 years old.

No details yet on what happened, but Power Trip were on the verge of greatness. Can't see them continuing without him.

Saw a post on another forum saying the loss of Riley Page is comparable to Cliff Burton's death in the late 80s.

It will crush that scene.

I don't know if that's quite true; Metallica in the Cliff Burton era were creating the thrash sound. Power Trip are amazing, but they're new blood in an existing scene rather than true pioneers the way Cliff's Metallica were. That said, there aren't that many young bands making good new thrash, and Power Trip were leading the way.

I just don't know if there's anyone left the carry that torch with Power Trip likely finished.

Deep Ellum in Dallas has some of the coolest metal and hardcore venues on the planet, and there's Power Trip merch and posters all over the buildings.
