The solo in Be Yourself is one of my favorite riffs ever. It's not the opening to Welcome to the Jungle, but it's just fun to listen to.

I'd forgotten how good that song is. Never in the history of wah-wah pedals has a guitar been quite as wah-wahed.

Detroit police investigating Chris Cornell death as "possible suicide"

Medical examiner preliminary ruling was suicide by hanging.  Ugh. Gotta suck for his family.  Bad enough to kick the bucket with a heart attack or something.

I saw Soundgarden a couple of times, and it was always Chris Cornell and his backing band. Audioslave were a better band than Soundgarden, with superior songs. Fight me.
Rage Against the Machine was better than both bands.  Fight me.

I refuse to listen to this Tom Morello slander.

He's not the best technical guitarist ever, far from it, but his creativity with the instrument and the different sounds he could get to come out of it is unbelievable.

And yes, Rage is better than both Soundgarden and Audioslave.

You had me until that last sentence. Rage is awful.

I understand why some people wouldn't like them. If you don't like rap, or if you don't like Rage's politics, it would be hard to like them. But I've always loved them.

I was huge into rap as a kid late 80s-early 90s, and I don't care about politics in music one way or another. But Rage just sounds like a ton of whining with some cool music behind it.

Rage is not better than either band.  I don't hate them, but no.  Just no.

At least we still have Udo Dirkschneider alive and well.

I just loaded up Balls To The Wall to see if it was as bad as I remembered it (it is), but somehow I have never managed to see that video before. It's really something.

Rage Against the Machine's first album, the self titled one, is a classic. The whole album is brilliant but Settle for Nothing, Know Your Enemy, Freedom and Take the Power Back are my favorites.
