I spoke with someone who knows DeCosta yesterday and they said they'd be surprised if he interviewed. He always turns them down. #nyj

There's a better shot if he can pick his own coach, but everyone says he's just waiting on Ozzy to retire.

When is that supposed to be though? I mean he's only 58. Id imagine he has at least until he's 65 before he thinks about retiring. We've heard for the last 3 years that DeCosta is waiting, but how long can he wait when he's getting GM requests year after year...

As long as he's getting paid and doing a job he likes, he can wait for a long time. If he's staying it's because he's in a great situation with a supportive ownership.

How long can DeCosta be content to be Ozzie's underling?  He's got to be itching for the big chair, and who knows when that's going to come in Baltimore.

I'm guessing DeCasta knows or has a hell of an idea.

He's planning to murder him soon.

Well, last time he managed to finagle a promotion out of it.  He can't be promoted any higher without Ozzie retiring.  If they don't promise him a definite number of years, he might get antsy.

I honestly don't know squat about Baltimore's ownership, but maybe it's an ideal situation behind the scenes? It could just be that DeCosta would rather wait another 10 years if need be, just to have that sort of support.

Let's be honest, for all that we wanted Idzik gone and that forcing the Revis trade on him made sense, this doesn't currently look like the most appealing job based on the last guy who held it.

Whoever takes the NYJ GM job is going to spend at least the next few years sweating over every decision he makes. And he also inherits Geno Smith.

Whoever takes the job is going to look at the Jets' 2014 draft and free agency performance, and laugh at how low the bar has been set for them to outperform their predecessor.
