Barron goes for a 4th and 6th rounder, just adding on to the pile of evidence about how asinine it is to draft a safety that early unless he is Sean Taylor.

Eric Berry?

Eric Berry?

Wasn't worth it. And I thought he was/think he is a stud. They took a guy top 5 over other positions that would benefit them longer term like OT and CB.

....Earl Thomas.

Great player, easier to justify around pick 15, esp because of what he's turned into, but his very draft is part of the reasoning against it. He wasn't even seen as the best safety available by 99% of people. Safeties are, more than other positions, about how they fit. You can bide your time and find someone that just fits a scheme at lower cost.  I know some may say you can do that at most positions, but it's far less likely at the premier draft positions like QB, OT, CB, and DL.
