Ian Rapoport on Rex and Idzik's Job Security
« on: October 12, 2014, 09:26:41 AM »
Ian Rapoport:  What about the job securities of coach Rex Ryan & GM John Idzik? Rex safer than I originally thought. All options on table for Idzik.

More on #Jets: Not spending $20M in cap space was GM John Idzik’s call. Believed there wasn’t a wise investment. Woody didn’t hold him back

More to it, bruh:

RapSheet: On the #Jets: No one is happy. But highly unlikely for midseason firing of Rex Ryan or John Idzik. Woody Johnson will evaluate post-season.

RapSheet: No litmus test for Rex Ryan to keep his job. Team could miss the playoffs & finish strong & bring Rex back. Reality with team in transition

RapSheet: One reason Jets brought Rex Ryan back last year: They feared he’d be immediately hired as a head
coach & make them pay. Same fear exists now

Haha, it makes the team sound like a woman afraid to leave her abusive husband.

Ian Rapoport knows exactly why the Jets didn't fire Rex Ryan last year (after the team played like hot garbage for most of the season and closed out on a tear, finishing .500).

It's pretty obvious he wasn't fired because of the strong finish.  This year is different.  If the team is buried and wins less than 6 games, he's probably out.

He shouldn't be out, we know he can win if he has players. And he'll be hired elsewhere in 5 minutes if he's let go here.
So it turns out, Italian Seafood was right an everyone can go freak themselves.

Yeah he will. But there is so much shittyness in one month of this season, and it's not going to get better. Geno is not going to get better. Vick was a retarded signing.

Everyone must go.

And when Rex does get a top 12 QB and a good, not great defense to work with, that team will go to the playoffs.

So it's asinine then to let a good coach go when you know you have one, just because the fans are pissed and want everyone to go. Bad decisions are made with emotion, like firing Tannenbaum the day after a bad game and bad season.

he's not a complete HC.  Our defense has been great during his tenure, but our offense hasn't.  This is an offense-driven league.  Whether you agree with that or not, that's a fact.

Geno can get better by virtue of it being impossible to get worse. There are 11 games left.

Him being a good coach is subjective. His defensive scheming this year hasnt been very good (consistently bringing the house on 3rd and long and stranding the secondary sticks out) and we all know he hasnt put a good and consistent offense on the field arguably ever.

In the NFL, sadly, you need a good QB and offense. Rex has not proven that he can put that together, and he's had 6 years to do so, with 2 GMs and 3 different OCs. Not many coaches last through that amount of turnover. If he loses this team in the upcoming weeks, he's gone. There was already talk of players not practicing/working hard enough from the vocal leader of his defense.

If this team finishes 4-12, I would have no problem letting Rex go and signing an offensive HC that could bring a different philosophy here. (I would hope Idzik is gone as well and we start fresh)

Besides not trying?

The coaching staff can be blamed for that as well.
