Suh to move on in free agency after this season
« on: September 28, 2014, 10:09:15 AM »
Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 23m

A quarter way through season, the Lions are preparing to lose free-agent-to-be DT Ndamukong Suh and he is preparing to move on, per sources.

We'd better get on and get Wilkerson signed to his new deal, if we wait until Suh sets the market it's going to cost us.

Schefter also mentioned that Suh prefers to play for one of the NY teams.

As much as I'd love to see our Dline with a Suh addition, i think our cap space can best be served elsewhere.

Would be hilarious if he signed with the giants. Classy team with one of the games dirtiest players

I didn't see that. Maybe that's why Idzik isn't spending any money on anything else, he wants to be remembered for building the greatest defensive line in history.

Schefter talked about it on Countdown.

If we had WR/CB depth, i'd share your opinion.

Having the greatest line in history ain't gonna help us much. Going from elite to greatest ever is only marginal in terms of ROI.

Well given our lack of LB youth, you could go 4 down lineman of Richardson, Suh, Harrison, Wilkerson with Coples and Davis at 2 of the 3 LB slots, then you would need to sign a coverage LB to play opposite Coples, and that is a ridiculously fearsome front 7.

God that would be fun if not completely irresponsible.

Suh's apparently looking for a minimum of $18M per year. Let's not even entertain this fantasy.

Ill be surprised if he approaches at. I don't know what Watts average was, but Suh shouldn't come that close to it.

Either way I think Mo should be paid less than both Suh and Watt. So we have that "going" for us

Coples playing 4-3 LB would be god awful

Fun to think about but if this team went 4-3 I'd rather just use Kenrick Ellis. Much cheaper

If I recall correctly, Idzik has to spend an obscene amount of money this offseason to reach the cap floor. I can see him resigning Wilkerson and making a splash in FA. Suh would make the best D-Line this league has seen in a very long time.

But, we still need corners.

We definitely have to spend but I'm not sure I want to invest 25 million a year on two DL signings. I'd rather sure up some holes at corner, WR, and LB depth.  Not to mention a guard or two.

We can just sign some UDFA to play guard.
