It was awful seeing us getting absolutely manhandled by the raiders though after so much promise.

The Raiders were favored to win that game. I wasn't exactly surprised we lost. I enjoyed the ride. That was my first year with season tickets and we won the friggin division. As a Jets fan, what more could you ask for?

There's always people who have to complain. I'd sign up for Chad and that 2002 team right now, no question.

That Revis pick was the one that bounced off Steve Smith's calf.

One of the luckiest bounces I feel like we have ever gotten.
Need a new one for a new board...

That happened so fast, I was there with a friend who is a Carolina fan, suddenly there's Revis running it in. That was the year Revis shut down all the top WRs, Andre Johnson, Smith, Moss, Ochocinco in back to back weeks, everyone.

The Dennis Byrd game was one of the saddest ever. We just lost Al Toon for good a few weeks earlier, then this, turned out to be O'Brien's last game with us too.

Conversely, I was at the 1981 game with my dad, one of the best times ever. We were in first place, the Sack Exchange was all over Bert Jones, who had always tortured us. We were upper deck in the end zone over home plate, the J E T S chant was roaring, years before anyone ever heard of Fireman Ed.

The Byrd injury is one of the worst I've ever seen. He was out best defensive player and he was still young too. Not that Scott Mersereau was anything to yell home about but that play fucked him up too.
That season sucked in general. The only good thing I remember is Brian Washington with 2 INTs the next week in Buffalo which was probably the biggest upset the entire season. We were like 17 point dogs.

I mean, the ride was fun and all, but we were a talented team with a ton of momentum. Not going all the way was a disappointment. I want to see our team win the championship, so I hate settling for "good rides".

Right, but when you're on the ride you don"t know how it's going to end. So there's nothing wrong with talking about how much you enjoyed it while it was going on. We all know how it ended, that's how it always ends. Except the one time and none of us here seem to have been around for that one, so for now this is what we have.

Fair enough, though I think the disappointment at the end of the season always outweighs the excitement during the ride. Especially when looking back.

That was an amazing season, sad enough, for the Jets. For all the reasons I've already listed, it was beyond fun. I was wasted for most of that season, had very little responsibility other than work back then and hooked up a few times right after games. I don't see why I shouldn't fondly remember any of that stuff because we lost a Divisional playoff game on the road to a team that was better than us.

I forgot we had Thomas Jones in 2007. I blocked out a lot of that year.
