Some psycho has put the old MSG Sportsdesk highlights of most of the 96 season on youtube along with really great assorted Jets stuff (Parcells introductory presser, random games from 98, etc). Kotite's post-game press conferences are unbelievable. This place would have freaking melted down.

December 20:
1981: Season finale, home win over Green Bay 28-3. Jets 9 sacks; Todd 2 TDs (Walker, Jones); Jets led 21-3 half, clinched Wild Card, finish 10-5-1.

Jets, Sack Exchange reach first playoffs in 12 years, 1981

Found this gem on YouTube, 25 minute condensed version of the game. One of my greatest Jets memories growing up, I hadn't seen it since that day. And of all things Vin Scully had the play-by-play. A rarity because the game was on CBS, as we were home vs an NFC team. Giants had beaten the Cowboys on the Saturday, the win put both NY teams in the playoffs for the first time in over a decade.

December 27:
1981: Wild Card Game, home loss to Buffalo 31-17. Bills led 24-0, 31-13; Todd 377 yds, 2 TDs, 4 INTs; Schuler 6 rec, 116 yds, TD; Ferguson 269 yds, 2 TDs 4 INTs; Bill Simpson goal line INT ends game.

Bills at Jets 1981 Wild Card

Watched this last night, an epic game. Broke my heart when I saw it live, but years later just a crazy game start to finish. The Jets didn't play their best but battled back the whole game. First playoff game after a 12 year drought, only one at Shea I ever saw. You can see the Sack Exchange at it's peak, players like Gastineau, Klecko, Lyons and Buttle in their prime. McNeil was a rookie, Wesley Walker also in his prime, had a terrible game.

Richard Todd is one of the most underrated Jets of all time. I'm not sure whey he's never been brought back, considering the Jets are usually pretty good about handling ex players. This was not his best game but you can see the toughness.

I was at that Texans game, I remember being so encouraged by Sanchez sacking up and driving the team down the field to snatch the victory after almost blowing it. That throw to Santonio was gorgeous.

Quincy played really well for us in 04 filling in for Chad. Shame he couldn't sort out his personal life because I definitely thought he had the tools to be a solid starter in the league. And to think, if he doesn't fail a drug test in Dallas its very likely that a young free agent rookie named Tony Romo gets waived.

It's not even the butt fumble that pissed me off, thats for the losers in Bristol to make a big deal out of.

But being down 35-0 to the Pats and having fireworks go off to celebrate a field goal to make it 35-3 is a pretty embarrassing.

I was about three rows behind Fireman Ed and had a nice view of the abuse he was taking that wound up causing him to go into self-imposed exile for a little while (and I wish he'd stay there), so that was cool.
