You might be the only person on the planet asking for anything else from this movie.
I just don't really understand the point. There's no reason why it can't actually have some story as well; look at how franchises like
Alien have been able to employ actual story arcs in each movie, and across the whole franchise, while still managing to be primarily a vehicle for "outgunned and overpowered human finds way to defeat monster".
Also, I had to look up Dan "does not miss" Trachterberg; he's done literally one other movie, a movie which could have been good but whose entire premise was completely ruined by its own title. So by my reckoning he's 0/2 so far.
