Even though it once again contains my single biggest complaint about movies today (British actors being cast to play Americans, and to a much lesser extent vice versa), that looks terrific. Boyega, Williams and Britton are all awesome actors.

I remember when The Other Boleyn Girl came out and the biggest complaints from the English press were:

1. Eric Bana (Henry VIII): Australian
2. Natalie Portman (Anne Boleyn): Israeli/American
3. Scarlett Johansson (Mary Boleyn): American

As opposed to, you know, the rest of that garbage heap.

Australians and Brits can interchange pretty easily, the accents are very close. Brits playing Americans is my primary bugbear, the US is full of actors. If you have a character who is American, go find one to play it and stop being lazy.

I finally got round to watch Knives Out at the weekend. Great fun, terrific movie. What the freak was Daniel Craig's accent? Did Daniel need the work? Was he hurting for funds and struggling to pay the mortgage between Bonds? freak off. Go hire an American.

Normally I'd agree with you, but Craig playing an American is a guarantee for a good movie. See also: Logan Lucky.

To be clear: I don't mind the practice in general, but when every good American role is played by an English actor, it starts getting annoying.

Additional annoyances: every foreign role in an American produced movie being played by an English actor. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas was really confusing before I realized what was going on.
