One thing I'll say is that a major part of how I viewed the movie was as a father and it general that makes "what if something bad happens?" a way more impactful theme to me. The scene with the car accident was absolutely heart rending and I was more susceptible to everything after that.

Everything up to, including and just after the accident was brilliantly made. It was the last 15 minutes where they suddenly went "oh excrement, this was supposed to be a supernatural horror movie - quick, chuck some burny flying scary bits in and give it a bit of scary expository narrative and we're good" that ruined the whole thing. It went from slow, atmospheric and dark to pastiche.

The accident and the family arguing at the dinner table were probably the best scenes to me. Aside from that I really could not care.

It was like there was a better story there that was being ignored just so they could make a horror movie instead.

Also what JE said about rushing the supernatural part.

I loved Hereditary, and concur that it's easily one of the best horror movies of the past 10+ years for me (along with The Conjuring). I'm a huge horror fan and I was very impressed with it.
I totally get JE's main gripe with it re:the final few minutes of seemingly-rushed supernatural wackiness. I often like it, though, when a movie goes off the rails in such an insane manner (I also really liked Mother! for that, in a different-yet-kinda-similar way).

(btw for anyone else into horror movies that go batshit off-the-rails, I recommend the low budget The Void)

Considering Hereditary was more than 2 hours long I didn’t have a huge problem with the ending. Don’t bother with Midsømmer if you don’t like a slow burn into a crazy ending.

That ending from Hereditary was written all over the wall as far as I was concerned. It was more than implied something supernatural was at work the entire time. The car accident was no accident. Collette’s character didn’t just become possessed. The way Byrne’s character was killed lent to the ending.

The movie was a compete homage to Rosemary’s Baby. Maybe a little Shining thrown in but Aster is definitely a Polanski fan.

I want to watch The Irishman, but I'm at a stage of my life where its hard to get a 4 hour period where I don't have a kid hanging on me or I can stay awake.

Same, and I refuse to watch a movie in installments so I end up just not bothering.

This is where I’m at and I’ve been waiting for this movie for like 3 years

I woke up early one morning and watched it.  It didn't feel that long, especially when no stores were open when I was watching.

And most of that time goes into breaking down Dowell Loggains film.

Week after Christmas I have off so I’m planning on watching The Irishman and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
