Go home Jerry, you're drunk.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet  4m
The #Cowboys and LT Tyron Smith have reached an agreement in principle on an 8-year, $98M deal, source says. Wow.

#Cowboys have star LT Tyron Smith under contract for the next 10 years for a total of $109M, per source. Second deal for 2011 1st rounders

If he's an elite LT thatmdeal will be an absolute steal in 3-4 years when he's making 10 mill per year through the prime of his playing days.

he's not

I did say if, and he's entering his 4th year, perhaps all could go well?

As I said in an earlier thread, it's Dallas, what the freak do I care?

Where you care is that it sets the market value for left tackles and becomes a negotiating tool for other players, although it's probably less of an issue for the Jets than it is for other teams. Still, stupid outlier contracts like this and Asomugha's bleed into all sorts of other negotiations and cause all sorts of challenges.

I don't think it's that big of an outlier, in dollars per year it's only about 10 mill per. It's outlier is the insane length of the deal.

That makes him a top five LT. The best tackle in the game gets $11.5M per.

"I think we're all agreed that my client is a far better player at the position than Tyron Smith, so he's worth at least $14M per year over the same length of contract. And we want half of it guaranteed. And if you won't pay that then we know three other teams who will."

We're going to get Dez Bryant next offseason.  He'll either come to the Jets or go to Cleveland.

I can't imagine any scenario in which Bryant walks...

RapSheet: With Tyron Smith’s deal, it’s nearly impossible to do Dez Bryant’s extension now. Little progress anyway. He may benefit from playing it out

The Jets should go after him and they can offer more.

No sense for the Browns to pay him and Gordon.

I'd also bet Dallas will simply restructure the freak out of their players contracts knocking mortgaging their future, so they can keep him.

Unless jerry Jones dies in the next few months, there's absolutely ZERO way Bryant doesn't extend with Dallas

If their plan is truly to let him go, it makes more sense for them to trade him now.

Everyone said there's no way the Saints could afford Jimmy Graham

Yet they still managed to franchise tag him, and give him a monster deal.

Unless Dallas has an even more talented player that warrants the tag, Bryant will get it.

And they'll just bump money to future years and keep him

There's no way Bryant goes

They could just as easily tag him and trade em

If he can stay healthy teams would easily trade significant value for that, even under the tag.

Hell I'd bet most people on these boards would be ecstatic if  Dallas tagged him and traded him to us for a 2nd next year
