Happy draft day fellas.

All real time draft posting can go in here....tipping picks is frowned upon.

I think we did this last year… but post your draft boards for tonight’s pick at 15

1. Will Anderson
2. Jalen Carter
3. Peter Skoronski
4. Paris Johnson
5. Darnell Wright
6. Jaxon Smith Njigba
7. Tyree Wilson
8. Broderick Jones
9. Dalton Kincaid
10. Anton Harrison
11. Zay Flowers
12. Michael Mayer
13. Calijah Kancey
14. Lukas Van Ness
15. Nolan Smith

Jesus, thank god there will be a bunch of QBs and DBs going ahead of 15, it was harder than expected to make that list.

My official pre-draft prediction is Darnell Wright, with the plan is Becton and Brown duke it out for LT.

The odds movement for the #2 pick was crazy, with Anderson a big favorite most of the day today. The trade explains all that.

Post by: Derek Smalls on April 27, 2023, 07:36:51 PM
Would you rather trade a future 1st-round pick if you're the Jets going all in for a Super Bowl for Aaron Rodgers? Or for Will Anderson on a team with a rookie QB that was the worst team in the NFL last season?

Indy is taking a QB. Seattle seems to likely be taking Carter. I think they might be trying to jump Detroit and this is the only place they can do it.

That or they wanted to jump Seattle and the Colts told them to freak off. If Indy liked a QB still on the board they couldn't afford to drop back to 12.

I’m not sure he has. Also Joel Klatt outlining why Richardson 13 college starts isn’t enough. Promptly says “this is why he needs to play”

For Indy’s sake I hope he doesn’t. For the Jets sake, I hope he does. We don’t need another freaking monster QB in the AFC. Richardson is the only one of these guys that MIGHT be that guy.

Everyone says that. I'm not sure I fully agree. Yes, he'll take time to be good, and you need to be patient. But I think he might be a good enough athlete/rusher to survive until his passing gets to an NFL level. It's likely ugly year 1, but the upside is huge.

The biggest issue for me with AR is that he has such a small sample size and lack of experience.

When your defense sucks and your QB is Desmond Ridder, you are rebuilding.

Anyone can win that division because it's an awful division. So they can go 8-9 and maybe win that division. But unless Ridder is way better than expected, they are no threat to do anything major in the playoffs.

That's my ideal. And quite frankly, I haven't watched enough of these guys to have a firm opinion. I can absolutely be sold on an edge rusher if a good one is there.

3. Peter Skoronski

5. Darnell Wright
6. Jaxon Smith Njigba

8. Broderick Jones
9. Dalton Kincaid
10. Anton Harrison
11. Zay Flowers
12. Michael Mayer
13. Calijah Kancey
14. Lukas Van Ness
15. Nolan Smith

My official pre-draft prediction is Darnell Wright, with the plan is Becton and Brown duke it out for LT.

Levis presumably falling to 11 is probably a good thing for the Titans, assuming they want him.

I would assume they were Stroud or bust. That said hopefully they take him

if the packers take jsn i can totally see the pats taking a tackle

Might go CB, they could take Porter Jr pretty easily

If the worst thing that happens is Jets get a trade back or are “forced” to add JSN to this WR corps, life won’t be all that bad

I’d also add, I wouldn’t be shocked for us to target Dawna’s Jones or Matthew Bergeron if we pass on tackle at 15

Because we have 4 NFL-caliber receivers, 2 tight ends under contract and a 3rd rounder, and every offensive linemen was gone.

Our defense needs reinforcements to maintain the level we played at last year or hopefully improve.

Maybe we're actually confident with George Fant, Mekhi Becton, and Duane Brown.
I actually wouldn't be that surprised if they're confident with Brown, Becton and Mitchell competing with AVT as insurance to kick outside. Still need a body somewhere with a significant investment (hopefully tomorrow). But nobody was there at 15 that was worth it IMO.

I also would have taken Campbell over McDonald.

Yea of the guys left that one did confuse me.

Once the Steelers jumped us for Jones (revenge for Revis pick) there wasn't an OT I wanted us to take. Not sure why no one likes JSN in the first so far.

Gotta be the “slot only” tag, and his lack of deep speed.

At this point we might have a shot at Zay Flowers tomorrow

I didn’t think we’d be going C on day 2 any more. But now I’d imagine we are in “best OL available” mode, position be damned. I’d still expect a tackle, but who knows any more. Prioritize someone with versatility to do multiple things

For me, re-signing McGovern for under two mill means C is still in play.

i hope you're right.

some of the complaints stem from the uncertainty of what tomorrow holds, but if we end up with a solid OL prospect i'll honestly feel a lot better about the uncertainty with this pick.

moving JFM inside next to Q now makes a ton of sense as well. fills in our DT need with us slotting in a new player/weapon at EDGE in mcdonald

No argument. I just can’t imagine us prioritizing C over OT, granted I can’t see JMS bing on the board then either.

I definitely think it's in play. McGovern can shift to guard or be competition. AVT can also shift out to tackle.

Brown
Laken
Schmitz
AVT
Becton

Mitchell is the main backup OT. AVT is next up. McGovern could start or could lose out to Laken/Schmitz.

McGovern is only on a one year deal, targeting JMS to play guard for a season and have AVT kick out to OT as one path ahead.

If Allen is allowed to stand up, he and Kincaid will kill us.

Hence the line of logic of “kill the QB” for drafting McDonald.

I think we need more edge rushers . The rotation must be a d20 dice

We will just play dungeons and dragons to decide our DL each series

You've got to spend the next 20 hours putting together a package to potentially get in front of Seattle.  There was an unexpected run on OT at the top of the first round.  excrement happens.  But you can no longer afford to just sit there and weather a run on interior lineman at the top of the second.

There are plenty of offensive linemen out there. I'm pretty confident someone will fall. If it starts to dry up quickly, then sure, get ready. But between Bergeron, Schmitz, Torrence and Avila, most likely someone will be there. And if 2 of them go, maybe get prepared to strike.

*away in paris, wake up yesterday to see this effin mess*

After the first 3 OTs were taken who didn’t see this coming.  And on top of it the Steelers were able to double dip by coming away with Joey Porter whom many had pegged going to Pitt in the 1st, i.e. before JD’s AR switch from 13 to 15 allowed NE/Pitt to tag team JD.

It’s also not surprising (however depressing) given BB’s penchant for trading down (in addition to the screw-the-Jets factor). Wonder how J. Johnson & M. Clemons feel about the Cyclone Will pick..
